Carl learned boot making from his father, Glenn Chappell. Glenn and Carl's grandfather, L.C. Chappell, learned their skills
from Mr. Umphrey, who as a 10yr. old, was apprenticed to a German shoemaker in the 1870's.
Carl begins every order with factory made lasts and then customizes them to the customer's particular needs and measurements.
His loyal customers know they will get a guaranteed fit and an artistry that are unique to his line of boots. The current waiting
time for a pair of C.T. Chappell Custom Boots is approximately twenty-four months. Carl's work boot line, Trail Town, has a six month waiting list.
Other experienced boot makers come to Carl's advanced seminars or use his personalized training to improve their skills.
Carl has been teaching Boot Making Seminars for twelve years. He is the boot making instructor to the mounted cavalry unit at
Fort Hood, TX.
Carl is certified by the VA for rehabilitation and has worked with students for state, federal and industrial training programs.
